Newbury Town’s next step toward a sustainable football club for Berkshire’s sixth biggest town has been unveiled.
The Faraday Road side have confirmed a link-up with junior club AFC Newbury to create a pathway into senior adult football that will include cross-promotion on fundraising events, matchday experiences and more.
AFC Newbury is run by chairman Michael Simpkin and a team of volunteers, and was founded in 1996 – a year after the original Newbury Town side folded in 1995.
A statement released by both clubs on social media said: Newbury Town are delighted to announce that we have agreed a sporting partnership with AFC Newbury, one of the biggest youth football clubs in the local area. While both clubs will continue to operate independently, this partnership will bring multiple benefits to both organisations and, most importantly, to the local football community.
At Newbury Town, we are committed to providing young local players with a clear pathway into men’s football when the time is right. This partnership strengthens that commitment and creates exciting opportunities for players to progress through the football pyramid within Newbury.
As part of the partnership, Newbury Town will support AFC Newbury through joint fundraising events, matchday mascot experiences, and a range of other initiatives that will be announced in the coming months.
Newbury Town Chairman, Danny Langford, said: “I think this is something that has been needed for a long time. AFC Newbury has a really successful junior section, and we are delighted to provide those players with an opportunity to move into the senior game with Newbury Town. We will also be arranging some joint fundraising events, so please keep your eyes open for further announcements.”

This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for football in Newbury, bringing together two clubs with a shared vision of developing local talent and strengthening the community through football.
Earlier in June, Newbury Town unveiled Devonn Reid as manager for the 2026/27 Thames Valley Premier League season having persuaded the former Westwood Wanderers boss to test himself after winning the league three seasons in a row.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
