Newcastle United winning 1-0 with an excellent committed performance after having to play most of the match a man down.

‘I thought Howe’s tactics were a disgrace. He should never be allowed near the England team. Playing a rigid 4 5 1 against us! I was really pleased that an established Prem team like Newcastle were bemused by Saints’s style of play. They are so use to absorbing pressure that they didn’t know what to do.

Edozie simply doesn’t have an end product. SAA was way more dangerous. Dibling was enjoying himself, give him game time and I’m convinced he’ll start making a major impact

However fairs fair Joe Linton was immense for them. That’s what you get for Saudi dollars.’

‘The dark arts of the game that Howe has mastered over the years so it was ironic to see him played at his own game.

Had the boot been on the other foot the Newcastle lad would have done eactly the same and Howe knows it, he would have demanded it probably.

‘Have you seen footage from the tunnel at half time where one of theirs tries putting it on Diaz, hopefully we have the water in the away dressing room on extra cold when they come down.’

‘That was actually encouraging. Expected an onslaught, but we went toe to toe with Newcastle, a team with far greater resources than us, even when they had 11 men. The first half was a lot more encouraging than the second, but that’s because Newcastle sat on and defended the 1-0, slowing the game down at all opportunities. Maybe our tactics do look worse when a team sits back against us and we struggle to break them down and play too slow, whereas when a team comes at us, we can play it around them, hence why we beat Leeds three times.

See the save Pope made against Adam Armstrong, not a single goalkeeper at our club makes that save and that’s what we need in this league and what we’ve been calling for, for years now.

Newcastle are one of the league’s better teams, we aren’t finishing above them and we made them look quite ordinary. A few more quality additions and we can have a competitive eleven.’
